The Wedding Film of Dain & Katlyn Howard – A Beautiful Outdoor Nontraditional Summer Wedding in Small Town Kansas
I can’t believe that Dain & Katlyn’s wedding has already come and gone when I’m pretty sure it was yesterday that I was reading about Boobie (their pug) for the first time in their inquiry email! BUT THEY’RE THE HOWARDS NOW!!
When I asked how they met this was the story: “We met through mutual friends while attending Washburn University. Dain asked me out on a date the very next day after meeting and we have been inseparable ever since! He actually moved in with me only three weeks after meeting and now we are coming up on our 4 year anniversary, I guess when ya know ya know! :)”
You can tell that they knew right away for good reason because they work better than PB&J for sure. Seriously they are so fun and goofy and great together.
When I asked Katlyn to share their favorite memory and passions she said: “This is hard!! If I had to pick one memory it would probably be spending a week in Hawaii just the two of us, exploring and adventuring. We love to hike and chase waterfalls. Hawaii is by far one of the most beautiful places and we loved that we got to discover it together. We love traveling and we fall more in love with each other after each new adventure. There’s nothing like being able to share those unique, once in a lifetime, experiences together. Okay sorry, getting mushy. LOL. We also have a black pug, Olive (aka Boobie), and she is our baby. — quick John interruption here, they know have 2 pugs and counting haha! — Yes, we are those annoying dog parents. I’m very passionate about branching out from bakery management someday and creating my own cake space, and Dain is by far my biggest supporter. There’s nothing that tests a relationship more than delivering a wedding cake together. LOL!”
Now, you already saw how incredibly beautiful their wedding turned out but here was Katlyn’s vision from the beginning: “If I had to describe our wedding in three words it would be: Backyard Boho Barbeque. It will be an all outdoor June wedding at my grandparents farm in Hiawatha, KS. They own a log house up on top of a hill which overlooks Kansas and it’s so beautiful! We will have a small intimate ceremony in the front yard of the house and a large backyard reception later that evening in the back of the house! We are going for a non-traditional feel. All the girls will get ready that morning in the vintage guest rooms of the house while the boys will be down the road at the Country Cabin which is a restaurant with small log cabins to rent that overlooks a pond. We want everything to be very laidback and easy. We just want to celebrate the day and have more of a huge party as opposed to a traditional wedding. Our style is very minimal, we have rented farm tables and will have lots of florals, but not a lot of décor or decorations because we just want it to be outside under the stars and I always think less is more. Our colors are all neutrals, the bridesmaids will be in mix-matched nudes & taupe colors, lots of greenery and only neutrals, no color, for florals.”
As you can tell their wedding turned out pretty much perfect and way-way more importantly their marriage is off to an amazing start. I’m so excited for these two friends of mine and I hope to continue my friendship with Dain and Katlyn for many years if they let me stick around 😜 (I’ll even pug-sit).
